Advance 2010
JOA 2010 Advance Report
Purge me, Lord, of my follies,
An empty cup let me be
Waiting only Thy blessing,
Hungry only for Thee.
Can even the Lord pour blessing
Into a cup that is full?
Put treasure into a locked hand
Be He ever so bountiful?
Empty me, Lord, and make me
Hungry only for Thee.
Only Thy bread, once tasted,
Can ever satisfy me.
This poem written anonymously sums up what so many women experienced at the annual Joy of Abiding Advance held at the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove. It is our great blessing to advance yearly to this beautiful setting with women who desire to study God’s Word and be changed by His power. It never ceases to amaze us how God works in the lives of all who are listening. Delaine’s teaching was titled “Hungering for God”. As she challenged us from God’s Word there were numerous evidences of the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the women.
One Purpose led us in worship through music accompanied by Ann Wilson and gave a concert Friday night. There is always such a sweet moving of the Holy Spirit when we sing about how great our God is and when we confess our love for Him through lyrics that speak truths concerning Him and His love.
Anne Buck shared her life through a personal testimony about God’s working in her life through the difficulty of cancer. She pointed us to the faithfulness of Christ and the awesome way He is attending to her through every aspect of her life.
As we left the Cove with gratitude in our hearts to the Lord, the Bread of Life, we committed to continue to pray for God’s transforming work in the life of every lady who attended the Advance. Only God really knows what happened in our hearts but we are looking for lasting fruit that will bring Him great glory!
